4. Remove the expansion cage .
5. Remove the server air baffle.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Removing and replacing a DIMM
CAUTION: Before replacing a DIMM, expansion board, or other similar PCA components due to a
perceived hardware error, make sure first that the component is firmly seated in the slot. Do not
bend or flex circuit boards when reseating components.
Prerequisites
If you are replacing a processor 1(B) DIMM and an OCP network adapter is installed, make sure that you
have a T-15 Torx screwdriver available.
Procedure
1. Power down the server on page 23.
2. Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
3. Remove the server on page 24.
4. Remove the expansion cage .
5. Remove the server air baffle .
6. If you are replacing a processor 1(B) DIMM and the OCP network adapter is installed, do the following:
a. Remove the OCP network adapter .
b. Remove the OCP air baffle .
7. Remove the DIMM.
