CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not keep an energy pack inside the chassis when
the Smart Array P-class controller is not installed.
Installing an energy pack in a chassis using an 800 W or 1600 W power supply
Prerequisites
Before you install this option:
• Verify that a Smart Array P-class Gen10 controller is installed in the server.
For more information, see the server user guide on the Hewlett Packard Enterprise website ( https://www.hpe.com/

• Make sure that you have the following items available:
◦ Controller backup power cable (ships with the controller)
◦
Energy pack option
◦ If not yet installed, the energy pack holder from the HPE r2x00 Gen10 Power Supply Unit Enablement Kit (PN
880186-B21)
◦ T-10 Torx screwdriver
Procedure
1. Power down the servers.
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the chassis.
3.
Disconnect all peripheral cables from the servers and chassis.
4. Remove the chassis from the rack.
5. Remove the access panel.
6. Remove the PDB cover.
