REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT

Replacing the Heatsink

To replace the heatsink:

Disconnect power from the system (

page 73

), remove the access panel (

page 77

), and remove the

heatsink (

page 88

Use alcohol and a soft cloth to clean all the thermal interface material residue from the processor
heatsink and processor.

CAUTION

Allow the alcohol on the processor heatsink to dry completely.

Apply new thermal grease between the heatsink and processor, then reverse the previous steps. Do not
fully tighten one screw, then move on to the next. Tighten all screws a little at a time, making sure the
processor remains level.

NOTE

This system only supports 4-wire fans.
