Check the paper feed suction cups for dirt and tears. Clean with IPA. If necessary,
replace the suction cups. See ‘Setting suction fingers’ on page 162.

Clean the upper feed roller with IPA.

Drain the solid air compressor. See ‘Draining the solids air compressor’ on page 259.

Clean the black ink BID using the cleaning foil. The foil is supplied inside the BID
package. For the cleaning procedure, see ‘Black BID cleaning procedure’ on page

Lubricate the press.

Check that all BID fans are operational.

Shut down the press.

Open the exit door.

Monthly routines

Perform the following procedures at the end of each month.

Clean the scorotron. See ‘Maintaining the scorotron’ on page 217.

Clean the ink pumps for the four process colors (CMYK). See ‘Cleaning the ink pump’
on page 109.

3

Clean the imaging oil clean sensor. See ‘Imaging oil cleanness sensor’ on page 199.

4

Perform monthly maintenance on the chiller (see ‘Maintenance’ on page 265).

Mechanical system lubrication

Weekly lubrication of the mechanical system is essential to its proper operation.
Components that are lubricated at proper intervals last much longer, and thereby require
less frequent replacement. Before beginning, shut down the system and the lock the main
power switch, if the machine is not equipped with a lockable isolated switch, pull the plug
off and tag it.

CAUTION

Only properly trained personnel who are thoroughly familiar with all of the safety and
maintenance procedures should operate and maintain the press.

You must shut down the system before starting this procedure.
