Updating System Firmware

Using the Flash Update Utility from AlphaBIOS

To update the firmware from AlphaBIOS, do the following:

1. Insert the Firmware Update CD-ROM into the CD drive.

2. From the AlphaBIOS Boot screen, press F2 to enter AlphaBIOS setup.

3. From the AlphaBIOS setup screen, select

Upgrade AlphaBIOS

Switching Console Firmware

SRM to AlphaBIOS

To switch from SRM firmware to AlphaBIOS firmware, follow these steps:

1. At the SRM prompt, type

>>> set os_type nt

2. Load and start the firmware update utility as shown previously in this section.

At the Apu-> prompt, type

update arc.

Specifying

arc

causes the AlphaBIOS

firmware to load. (Make sure you have the latest version available firmware version
before updating.) The following example shows the AlphaBIOS firmware being
loaded. The actual information may change between versions.
