TROUBLESHOOTING

Sequence

Message

PURGE HOLD: T7  
(Lockout ILK)

The VFD indicates the burner status, PURGE. The RM7838B commands the
combustion air fan on and provides a five second hold for the Lockout Interlock
(Combustion Blower Switch) to close and stabilize. If the Lockout Interlock is
not closed at the end of the five second hold, the RM7838B will lockout.  

PURGE HOLD: T21  
(Start Switch)

The VFD indicates the burner status, PURGE. The RM7838B has completed the
combustion blower startup and is waiting for the momentary Start Switch input to
terminal 21. The RM7838B will hold indefinitly. NOTE: If Start Switch is
bypassed the RM7838B will stay in this Hold. It will not advance Ignition.

PILOT IGN mm:ss

The VFD indicates the burner status, PILOT IGN, and the timing of the PILOT
IGN trial begins, in seconds. During this period, the RM7838B permits the pilot
valve to be open and the pilot flame to be established.  

PILOT HOLD: TEST  
(Run/Test Switch)

The VFD indicates the burner status, PILOT IGN, and that the Run/Test Switch
is in the TEST position. The sequence will not continue until the Run/Test Switch
is placed in the RUN position.  

PV HOLD:  
(PV Hold Switch)

The VFD indicates the burner status, PV HOLD, and that a PV hold input is
present on terminal 16. The RM7838B will hold indefinitely until the input is
removed.

MAIN IGN 00:00

The VFD indicates the burner status, MAIN IGN, but the timing has not started.
The RM7838B is waiting for an input through the Manual Open Valve Switch to
terminal 17. If configuration jumper JR3 is clipped, the RM7838B will go
straight into the MAIN IGNITION sequence.

MAIN IGN mm:ss

The VFD indicates the burner status, MAIN IGN, and the timing of the MAIN
IGN trial begins, in minutes or seconds. During this period, the RM7838B
permits the main valve to be open and the main flame should be established. If
configuration jumper JR3 is clipped, the RM7838B will lockout if the Manual
Open Valve Switch to terminal 17 is not energized at the end of the MFEP.

RUN

The VFD indicates the burner status, RUN, which is the period of time after the
ignition trials. During this time, the burner is firing under control of the firing rate
control.  

RUN LOWFIRE: TEST
(Run/Test Switch)

The VFD indicates the burner status, RUN, and that the Run/Test Switch is in the
TEST position. The firing rate motor will drive to the Low Fire position. Normal
operation will not resume until the Run/Test Switch is placed in the RUN
position.  

PV HOLD IGN: 00:00

The VFD indicates the burner status, PV HOLD IGN, and the timing of the PV
HOLD IGN sequence in minutes and seconds. The PV HOLD command comes
from an input to the RM7838B through terminal 16.

PV HOLD: (PV Hold Switch)

The VFD indicates that the RM7838B is at Pilot Valve Hold with input through a
Pilot Valve Hold command switch to terminal 16.

Waiting forconnection…

The display has power but is waiting to receive a signal from the RM7838B to
continue operation.

RESET/ALARM TEST

The VFD indicates the burner status, RESET/ALARM TEST. This display
indicates that the reset pushbutton is pressed. If it is held for more than four
seconds, the alarm output is energized. The alarm output will be de-energized
when the reset pushbutton is released.  

ADDITIONAL SEQUENCE STATUS INFORMATION IF AN EXPANDED ANNUNCIATOR  

IS CONNECTED TO THE RM7838B.
