Inspiration Trigger

Thresholds:
• • • • The inspiration trigger is a volume
trigger. It specifies the inspiration
efforts of patient required to obtain
pressure or volume support from the
ventilator in the case of spontaneous
breathing.
Inspiration is triggered when the inspi-
ration volume and flow change in
30 ms are larger than the specified
thresholds due to the patient’s inspi-
ration effort.
Please note: Please always consider
the patient’s clinical record when set-
ting the trigger levels in order to avoid
the risk of auto triggering.

The expiration trigger is a flow trig-
ger. The peak flow of the inspira-
tion is measured with each breath.
The expiration trigger setting defines
the percentage of the peak flow at
which the ventilator switches over
to expiration.

tion, the target volume safeguards
the respiratory volume per breath.
