2400KL ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED)
Assembling the 2400KL Scale (Refer to Figures 1-7)
Caution: It is recommended that the assembly be performed by two persons.
1. Place scale assembly on a flat, level, and dry surface, and carefully turn the ramp upside
down.
Caution: Ensure that the wheelchair ramps are held in place when moving the scale.
2. Thread the (8) feet into the underside of the wheelchair ramp. Each foot should be completely
hand tightened into each ramp. Back feet out 1-½ full turns. This will allow for proper load cell
operation and scale accuracy (see Figure 1).
Warning: Do not drop scale, as this can permanently damage the load cells.
3. Carefully flip the scale over to its upright position on the surface (see Figure 2).
4. Open the scale to its operational position by folding open the wheelchair ramps, and have the
feet securely placed onto the surface (see Figure 3).
5. Tighten the (2) locking knobs located on the carrying handle (see Figure 1).
Note
: For accurate weighing, the (2) locking knobs must be completely hand tightened.
6. Adjust the feet to level the wheelchair ramp. For proper load cell operation, be certain that
the feet are not completely tightened into the ramp.
7. Make sure that all scale parts are leveled at least ½” (12mm) from the surface (pay special
attention to the two folding hinges in the center). If needed, raise the scale by adjusting all eight
feet (see Figure 6).
8. Connect the load cell cable to the wheelchair ramp by inserting the load cell cable connector
into the load cell port, located on the inner side of the right ramp (see Figure 4).
9. If the AC adapter will be used, connect the AC adapter cord plug into the AC power jack,
located on the back of the display assembly. The AC power jack is labeled “POWER” (see
Figure 5).
Caution: Do not plug the scale into a power source until the scale is fully assembled.
10. Ensure that the other load cell cable connector is securely plugged into the display
assembly load cell jack (located on the rear panel of the display assembly). The load cell jack is
labeled “LOAD CELL” (see Figure 5).
11. Bring the wheelchair close to the scale’s ramps. Loosen the width adjusting knobs and
adjust the scale width by moving both of the ramps (see Figures 1 & 7).
Note
: Often front and rear wheels on wheelchairs are not perfectly aligned. Make sure that both
front and rear wheels of the wheelchair in use are on the scale ramps (see Figure 7).
12. Tighten the (2) width adjusting knobs in order to lock the width adjusting mechanism.
13. The scale is now assembled. Plug the AC adapter into a power source and / or insert the
batteries.
14. Carefully position the display assembly on the desk, table, or other flat surface.
Caution: Ensure that the load cell cable is adequately secured to prevent a tripping
hazard to the patient or user.
Note:
Refer to “Display Assembly Wall Mounting Instructions”, located in this User Instruction
Manual.
