WARNING
Risk of accident and injury!
When in use, the bicycle moves and vibrates constantly.
This can cause excessive wear and tear or can cause
screws to come loose.
• If in any doubt, ask your specialist dealer to show you
how to check your bicycle.
• Check your bicycle before each ride, following the
inspection instructions.
• Use the bicycle only if no damage is visible.
• Use the bicycle only if excessive wear has not taken
place and if all screw connections are secure.
• Check the bicycle thoroughly for damage and excessive wear
before setting off (see chapter “Before each ride » Inspection
instructions”).
Inspection instructions
Before each ride, check:
-
the condition of the frame and the components.
• Look at all of the components and check for deforma-
tions, tears and discolouration.
• Take hold of the baggage rack, the handlebars, the ped-
als and the seat in turn and check that all the components
are secure.
-
the function of the brakes.
• Operate the hand brakes, and where appropriate, the
coaster brakes, and listen for unusual sounds.
• Check whether it is impossible to push the bicycle for-
wards when one of the brakes is operated, and if it is pos-
sible, that this can only be done when pushing very hard.
-
the function of the lights and the bell.
• Switch on the lights and check whether both the head-
light and the rear light light up (see chapter “Operation
» Lights”). For bicycles equipped with a hub dynamo,
turn the front wheel to check the lights.
• Check whether you hear a clear sound when you operate
the bell (see chapter “Operation » Components » Bell”).
-
the quick-release (if available).
• Check whether the quick-release is fully closed and cor-
rectly adjusted (see chapter “Operation » Quick-release”
and “Settings » Quick-release”).
