Chain
NOTICE
Risk of damage!
The use of incorrect greases, oil and maintenance prod-
ucts can damage the components.
• Consult your specialist dealer for information on using
greases, oils and maintenance products, particularly
for bicycles with derailleur gears.
• Do not use water or chemical brake cleaners or thin-
ners to clean your bicycle.
• Do not use weapon oil or rust remover spray.
• Remove dirt from the chain with a clean or lightly oiled cloth,
as appropriate.
• Remove dirt from the sprocket and chain ring with a small,
clean, soft brush.
• Oil the chain with universal oil after cleaning it, after riding
in the rain or after 15 hours of use.
• Consult your specialist dealer if there is dirt which is
difficult to remove.
Gear shift system
• Clean the operating parts of the gear shift system with
a damp cloth.
• If you have derailleur gears, and if they are accessible, clean
the moving components with a damp cloth or a soft brush
(see
Figure R-2
).

• Lubricate the sliding surfaces immediately after cleaning
with some lubricant, e.g. universal oil.
• Then wipe up any excess lubricant with a clean cloth.
