Recording to a sequencer/DAW along with a synthesizer
1. Go into the MIDI Edit Menu and do the fol-
lowing:
A. Select the “Use EX.” MIDI Template.
B. Manually turn the Keyboard Channels for
Upper, Lower and Pedal “ON” for both
Transmit (Tx) and Receive (Rx). This is nec-
essary because selecting the “UseEx” MIDI
Template automatically turns the Keyboard
Channels “OFF.”
2. Set the MIDI Channels of your synthesizer or
module to recognize ONLY data being sent by
the External Zones. Mute the MIDI Channels on
which the Keyboard Channels are transmitting.
3. The sequencer/DAW records both Keyboard
channels and External Zone channels.
The sequencer/DAW will play back both Keyboard
channels and External Zone channels.
The XK-5 sounds from the Keyboard Channels
and the synthesizer sounds from the External Zone
channels.
1. Go into the MIDI Edit Menu and select the
“Basic” MIDI Template.
2. Set the MIDI Channels of your synthesizer or
module to recognize ONLY data being sent by
the External Zones. Mute the MIDI Channels on
which the Keyboard Channels are transmitting.

Playing back a performance
Set XK-5 LOCAL CONTROL to “ON.” Set DAW LOCAL ECHO to “OFF.”
