SPLIT - DIVIDE THE KEYBOARD BY PARTS
The XK-5 has only one Manual, but by using the SPLIT feature it can
be made to perform as if it were a two-manual instrument.
[SPLIT] Touch Button
To use the SPLIT feature, press the [SPLIT] Touch Button and the
LED will turn “ON.” The default Split point is between “2B” and
“3C” (see the diagram on the left).
NOTE: You can change the SPLIT Point (dividing point) and Octave.
See page 60 for instructions on how to do this
The area of the keyboard to the right of the Split point is referred to as
UPPER and the left portion is LOWER.
PEDAL TO LOWER - ADD BASS TO LOWER
PEDAL SUSTAIN - SMOOTH DECAY WHEN RELEASE
A popular effect for organ bass is “PEDAL SUSTAIN,” which adds a
smooth decay reminiscent of a string bass.
[PEDAL SUSTAIN]
To turn this feature “ON,” press the [PEDAL SUSTAIN] Touch But-
ton so that the LED is lit. When you play and release either a pedal or
a bass note on the Manual when using Pedal To Lower, the Pedal note
will decay smoothly.
NOTE: You can adjust the PEDAL SUSTAIN length. For more informa-
tion, see page 51.

Pedal to Lower
You can play the Pedals using the bottom notes of the Lower Manual.
PEDAL TO LOWER] Touch Button
To use the Pedal To Lower function, press the PEDAL TO LOWER] Touch Button so
that the LED is lit. The Pedal tones will be heard in conjunction with the lowest note
being played on the manual.
The default Pedal To Lower range is from “1C” (the lowest note on the Manual) to “2B”
(the second “B” on the Manual counting from the left).
NOTE: You can change the playing range and characteristics of the PEDAL TO LOWER
function. For more information consult page 51.
NOTE: When the XK-5 is expanded to 2 manuals, the Pedal To Lower function appears
on the connected Lower Manual.
The tones produced by Pedal To Lower are controlled by the Pedal Drawbars.
