1.8 Transportation and storage
Electric motors shall be packed according to the design documents of the manufacturer as well as
the supply contract (e.g. a cardboard box with seals).
Handling symbols and captions specifi ed on the containers shall be strictly observed during storage
and transportation.
Electric motors may be transported by all means of transport in accordance with the load
transportation rules in force for these types of transport.
Electric motors shall be stored in the manufacturer’s package in self-ventilated premises far from
heat sources, fl ammable and toxic liquids. Factory marking shall be available for checking.
Twice a year, motor shafts shall be rotated to several revolutions (after the brake deblocking in case
of self-locking motor) to prevent damage to bearings and sealing rings. In the normal operating
environment, as well provided that the proper protection was ensured during transportation, the
storage period shall be up to 1 year. When storing during up to 2 years under normal environmental
conditions, seals, shafts and possible treated surfaces non-coated with paint shall be amply
lubricated.
Transportation and storage of electric motors shall be at the temperature from minus 20ºC to +50ºC
and the relative humidity of 10 to 70%.
If the electric motor was relocated from the cold storage to the premises, condensate may form on
it. Before connecting the supply voltage, wait until all visible signs of condensate disappear.
If the package was broken:
– Check the surface and inner components of the electric motor for any sign of damage;
– If the electric motor is damaged, immediately contact the shipping company or the supplier. If
possible, take pictures of damaged parts;
– Retain the package (for check by the shipping company or the return);
– If the return authorization was confi rmed, fi x the damaged part of the package and pack the
motor into it.
Pay special attention to prevent the loss of documents enclosed into the electric motor package.
1.9 Sales conditions
Electric motors shall be sold by means of shipment of the ready motor from the manufacturer to the
end user or a sales company (a dealer). When electric motors are sold via the distributor network,
sales rules and retail trade rules shall be complied with.
