5. Mechanical installation
5.1 Installing the solution
Installation of the solution must be performed by qualified
persons in accordance with local regulations.
Position the solution so that it does not damage other
equipment.
Do not alter the design of the solution.
WARNING
Overhead load
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Wear a safety helmet when working on or at the solu-
tion.
‐
Follow local regulations when working at the solution.
WARNING
Overhead load
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Do not stand under or close to hanging load.
‐
Follow local regulations when working at the solution.
WARNING
Overhead load
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Make sure that the lifting equipment is appropriate for
lifting the load before lifting the solution.
See the weight on the nameplate.
DANGER
Explosive environment
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Do not install the solution where fuel leakage can oc-
cur to prevent ignition of explosive gases.
Check for external damage to the solution before lifting it into place.
Once the solution is installed, no claims can be made against
Grundfos for any damage.
To install the solution, do the following:
1. Place the solution at the installation site.
2. Make sure that the solution is level.
5.1.1 Connection of district heating pipes
WARNING
Steam
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Avoid tension in the pipe connections to the solu-
tion and minimise thermal stress.
WARNING
Steam
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Make sure that the welding is carried out without ten-
sion in the pipe connections.
‐
Make sure that the welded connections are carried out
according to the pipe manufacturer's instructions.
5.1.1.1 Avoiding tensions in pipe connections
WARNING
Pressurised system
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Make sure that the installation of the external pipe
connections is done according to the pipe manufactur-
er's guidelines for installation to avoid excessive
stress in the pipes. Grundfos recommends to make 90
degree bends near the inside of the solution to avoid
axial stresses.
The pipe sections between the isolating valves must not be
removed to avoid tension in the pipes. See pos. 2 in the
figure Avoiding tension in the pipe connections to the skid.

Solution
Before connecting the pipes, check the following:
•
The pipes must be clean and protected with plastic plugs.
•
The inlet pipes must be properly aligned in relation to the pipe
connections.
The connection of district heating pipes must be carried
out by qualified persons. The connection must be done
according to local technical regulations from the local utili-
ty company and according to the instructions from the
supplier of the district heating pipes.
5.1.2 Completing installation work at the solution
Make sure that the building or technical room is properly
closed. Check and remove foreign bodies, if any.
