Condensation
The B*G Series boiler is a high efficiency boiler and as a result improper venting can lead to
condensing temperatures in the chimney connector and the venting system. If condensing
temperatures of below 250°F NET are reached in the chimney connector then additional steps
shall be taken to insure proper draft. Make sure that all joints are properly sealed with a high
temperature silicone or mastic. If after sealing the joints the condition still exists then inspect
the chimney for suitability. If the masonry, brick, block chimney or tile chimney liner is in poor
condition, a new chimney liner rated for oil may have to be installed. In the event the condition
still exists after installation of a new liner consult Granby Furnaces Inc.
SPECIFIC TO GAS5FIRED BOILERS
When an existing boiler is removed from a common venting system, the common
venting system is likely to be too large for proper venting of the appliances connected
to it. At the time of removal of the existing boiler, the following steps shall be
followed with EACH appliance remaining connected to the common venting system,
while the other appliances remaining connected to the common venting system are
not in operation:
1. Seal any unused openings in the venting system.
2. Visually inspect the venting system for proper size and horizontal pitch and
determine there is no blockage or restriction, leakage, corrosion and other
deficiencies which could cause an unsafe operation.
3. Insofar as is practical, close all building doors and windows and all doors
between the space in which the appliances remaining connected to the common
venting system are located and other spaces of the building. Turn on clothes
dryer and any appliance not connected to the common venting system. Turn on
any exhaust fans, such as range hoods and bathroom exhausts, so they will
operate at maximum speed. Do not operate a summer exhaust fan. Close
fireplace dampers.
