GPS1195 Auto Gate Manual Version 3
Spring Adjustment, Balancing the Arm
The GPS1195 Auto Gate starting with 12ft round aluminum arms are spring balanced. There is a choice
of 2 spring sizes depending on the length of barrier arm.
12FT to 15FT round aluminum arm requires the GPS 5.5 spring
16FT to 23ft round aluminum arm requires the GPS 6+4 spring
Depending on the length of the arm, when adding light packages, Stop signs, or stabilizer arms a
combination of a 6+4 and a 5.5 spring may be required to ensure a smooth open and close operation of
the barrier arm.
1)
To balance the arm, bring the gate arm to the up position using the Auto / Manual switch
located on the side of the PLC board nearest the door opening. Set the switch to manual
2)
Turn the power switch off located to the lower right side of the barrier gate before making any
adjustments
3)
Use a 1” open end wrench to hold the turnbuckle, loosen the 24mm nut at the top of the
turnbuckle and then loosen the ¾” nut at the bottom of the turnbuckle, The ¾” nut is left hand
4)
Loosen the 24mm nut that secures the top of the connecting rod to the main shaft arm, release
it while holding the aluminum arm, as the arm is now free.
5)
With assistance bring the gate arm down to about a 45 Degree angle and hold it there
6)
Turning the turnbuckle counter clockwise raises the arm. Clockwise lowers the arm
7)
Clamp a vise grip to the welded nut at the bottom of the anchoring rod. Turn the turnbuckle
counter clockwise until the arm reaches 45 Degrees. Secure the 24mm nut at the top of the
turnbuckle and the ¾” nut at the bottom of the turnbuckle.
8)
While the spring is holding the arm at 45 Degrees, rotate the motor manually using the v belt
until the connecting rod bolt is in line with the hole in the main shaft arm. Fasten the 24mm nut
on the connecting rod to the main shaft arm and your adjustment is complete.
9)
Make sure that all hardware is now in place and all tools are removed before turning the power
switch on.
