Malfunctions/Service
CAUTION!
Improper handling of the magnet device may lead to damages.
Potential damage to body and/or property!
•
Any repairs to GOUDSMIT magnet devices must be performed by
qualified personnel only.
•
Be aware that permanent magnets attract ferromagnetic material with
great force when it gets in reach of the magnetic field
danger of getting
jammed!
Malfunction
Failure
Possible cause
Possible remedy
Poor separation result of non-ferro
particles.
Particles to be separated are not non-ferro
metals.
Use different device.
Belt speed and rotor frequency are not
optimised.
Adjust belt speed and frequency.
Particles to be separated are very small.
Lower belt speed and increase rotational
speed of magnet roller to maximum permitted
by Goudsmit.
Particles to be separated are large.
Raise belt speed and lower frequency.
Running direction of motor.
Alter motor direction.
Separation plate set incorrectly.
Reset separation plate.
Poor separation of small particles,
even after optimisation.
Too few magnet poles, even with highest
rotational speed of magnet roller.
Order a NF separator with more magnet
poles.
Belt misalignment.
One or more rollers misaligned.
Re-align belt and rollers.
Damaged guiding profiles.
Repair or replace belt and or guiding profiles.
Contamination between belt and rollers.
Remove contami replace or re-align
belt.
Too much power required by drum
motor.
Belt tension too high.
Reduce belt tension with tensioning unit.
Contamination between belt and rollers.
Remove contamination.
Too much load on belt.
Decrease product flow.
Loud bearing noise.
Too high belt tension.
Reduce belt tension by tensioning unit.
Worn-out bearings.
Replace bearings.
Bearing grease is (too) old.
Replace grease.
See chapter
Extraordinary vibrating of the NF
separator.
Magnet roller bearing wear.
Replace bearings.
Too much power required by belt
drive motor.
Worn-out bearings.
Replace bearings.
