Applause Media System Related Problems
Following table lists several Applause Media System-related problems with suggested
solutions:

Probable Cause
Suggested Solutions
Cannot connect to
Gilbarco Site Server’s
web configuration
screen (with the laptop
connected).
The Gilbarco Site Server has not
completed its startup process.
Wait for the server to power-up and successfully boot. Then, from your
laptop, ping the IP address to which you are attempting to connect.
You may have a cable problem.
• If your laptop is connected directly to the Gilbarco Site Server you must
use a crossover CAT-5 cable.
• If your laptop and the Gilbarco Site Server are connected through an
Ethernet (WAN) hub, you must use a standard CAT-5 cable to the hub.
Gilbarco Site Server
cannot connect to the
Control Center.
Faulty Internet connection.
• If you do not have a dial-up connection:
- Attempt to ping the default gateway IP address from the Gilbarco
Site Server. If not successful, you have a cable problem between the
Gilbarco Site Server and the default gateway.
- Check cable connections.
- Check cable for damage.
This can happen if you are using DHCP, and your DHCP server is not
providing a valid Domain Name System (DNS) server for the Gilbarco
Site Server to use. Use a static IP and select a valid DNS server.
Change in the connectivity status (for
example, customer decided to change
the internet service provider).
• Phone line down.
• Server lock up.
• No scheduled content.
Promotions are not
being displayed on any
dispensers.
Cable problem between the Gilbarco
Site Server and the dispenser network.
Attempt to ping one or more of the fueling dispensers IP address(es).
• If this is not successful, there is a cable problem between the Gilbarco
Site Server and the dispenser network.
- Check cable connections.
- Check cable for damage.
• If this is successful on one of the dispensers, one or more of the other
dispensers are misconfigured. Attempt to ping other dispensers to
determine if a particular dispenser is misconfigured.
Promotions are not
being displayed on one
specific dispenser.
Cable problem between the Gilbarco
Site Server and the specific dispenser.
Attempt to ping the fueling dispensers IP address.
• If not successful, do the following:
- Check cable connections.
- Check cable for damage.
• If successful, do the following:
- Reboot the dispenser, if it still does not display content.
- After reboot, if the dispenser still does not display content, examine
the “merch_error.log” and “merch_event.log” log files on the Gilbarco
Site Server to see if there are any indications of a problem with the
dispenser in question.
