Pulse Modulation: On/Off Ratio
Step
Action
1.
Allow the equipment to warm up for at least 30 minutes.
2.
Connect the equipment as shown in Figure 56 on page 128.
3.
Set the pulse generator to the following settings:
Pulse Width: 5 ms
Pulse Interval: 10 ms
Output: ≥ 2.4 Volts into 50 Ω
4.
Set the 2500B to the following settings:
Power Level: 0 dBm
External PM state: On
Trigger Polarity: Active high
RF Output state: On
5.
Set the 2500B to the first test frequency shown in the datasheet.
6.
Set the spectrum analyzer to the following settings:
Frequency: Same as the frequency set at the 2500B
Span: 0 Hz (Zero Span mode)
Sweep Rate: 20 ms
Vertical Scale: 10 dB/div
Resolution Bandwidth: 3 kHz
Video Bandwidth: 3 kHz
Video Averaging: 10
Trigger type: Video, adjust until triggered at 50 % of the rising/falling edge
7.
Adjust the spectrum analyzer reference level so that the peak level of the pulse is at the top of the
display.
8.
Use the Marker Δ to measure the power difference between the on state and the off state of the
displayed pulse, and record the measurement in the “ON/OFF Ratio (dB)” column of the datasheet.
9.
Repeat steps 6 through 8 for the other frequencies in Datasheet 10.
10.
After you have entered all of the test results onto the datasheet, compare the test results with the
following to verify compliance of the 2500B:
