DOSING (Technical and Potable Use)

Municipal or well water for potable and industrial use might sometimes have undesired features, contain
bacteria or algae, be too hard, basic or acid, etc.
In these cases it is necessary to treat water with special equipments like metering pumps, which dose the
suitable product in an accurate and adjustable way.
These pumps are very easy to install, usually before the system or before the equipment to protect.
GEL offer a wide range of digital proportional metering pumps (PP and PPI) in order to satisfy the different
needs of houses, laboratories and industries. All equipments are available single or mounted on a special
tank (SE), are manufactured with high quality materials to get the best performance and operate with the
highest safety.
COMPONENTS
Diaphragm metering pumps of the DOSAMATIC line are ideal for dosing small and medium quantities of
liquids. The pumps are made up of the following components:
- BOX
- ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT
- ELECTROMAGNET
- DIAPHRAGM
- PUMP BODY
- LEVEL PROBE
- WATER METER WITH IMPULSE SENDER (MODELS WITH PROPORTIONAL FLOW RATE)
The electrical circuit generates the impulses necessary for starting the magnet. The pump works
intermittently: whenever the magnet gets an impulse, the magnetic field which has generated pushes the
piston, running on self-lubricating bushings to make its short stroke easier.
The piston head is fitted with a diaphragm which, pushed by the piston, pressurizes the liquid in the pump
body coming out from delivery valves, while the suction valves are closing.
Once the impulse has ended, the spring sets the piston in its first position, so that the liquid fills the pump
body through the suction valves, while the delivery valves are closing. The flow rate of the pump is directly
proportional to the number of impulses of the magnet and to the quantity of product dosed for each
injection.
BOX Metering pumps are housed in plastic containers.
ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT The electronic card, manufactured with a professional double copper support
and high quality materials, generates the electrical impulses necessary for
starting the magnet.
ELECTROMAGNET The electromagnet, made up of a metallic inductor and a copper winding, is
controlled by the electrical circuit and gives a mechanical push to the piston and
thereby to the diaphragm. The piston stroke is between 0,7 and 1,6 mm.
DIAPHRAGM The diaphragm of metering pumps is completely made of polytetrafluoroethylene
(PTFE); it guarantees an excellent chemical compatibility and a good mechanical
resistance.
PUMP BODY The pump body, made of PVDF plastic material, is the dosing chamber. It is
fitted with suction and delivery valves and with a manual air valve which, when
opened, makes the pump priming easier during installation.
