Note:
When installing the evaporator inlet sensor, be
sure to insulate the sensor location with new mastic
(part #WS03X10075).

The sensor is inserted into a clip that is attached
to the evaporator inlet tube. The sensor location
is insulated with mastic. (See

The rear shroud cover and rear shroud must be
removed to access the evaporator inlet sensor. (See
Machine Compartment Covers

Evaporator Outlet Sensor
The evaporator outlet sensor (T3b) provides the
control with evaporator outlet temperature during
sealed system operation.
The control checks the sensor to confirm:
1. Temperature difference between T3a and T3b is
greater than 5°F after 30 minutes compressor
run time.
2. The T3a, T3b, and T5 sensors are all within 15°F
of each other before the compressor starts.
3. The electronic expansion valve (EEV) is operating
properly and valve rotation is within range.
4. The condition of the sensor is either open or
shorted. The sensor is considered open if the
voltage at control board location T3b is greater
than 4.88 VDC, and shorted if less than 0.098
VDC.
if any of the above tests fail, the control will stop
the sealed system and operate the water heater in
electric mode.
Specific failures associated with the evaporator
outlet sensor can initiate fault codes Fd, FF, and F6.

Service Mode.)
