3.2.3 HITCHING THE PLANTING UNIT TO THE EQUIPMENT
DANGER
Hitching the planting unit to the equipment is a very dangerous
operation. Be very careful in following the instructions for the
whole operation.
It should be carried out on a firm, horizontal surface with the
planting unit placed on its support props.
1) Remove the guards from the pulley and the belts (A, B Fig.
11).
2) Grease the guides (C Fig. 12) of the triangle to facilitate the
hooking up, and make sure that the spring pin is positioned
as shown in Figure 12 ref.
B
.
3) Bring the tractor to the seeder; using the lift, move the quick
connect triangle until it is vertically above the coupling triangle
of the seeder (Fig. 12).
ATTENTION
During coupling of the planting unit and the equipment there
must be no one standing in the area between the two.
4) Check that there is no interference between the mechanical
parts of the two machines, before lifting the equipment to
hook onto the seeder. Particularly check the area between
the rear roller and the arms of the sowing teeth (Fig. 13).
5) Lift the equipment until the two parts are perfectly coupled
along the triangle guides with the insertion of the spring dowel
(
A
Fig. 12).
6) Slip out the parking feet (Fig. 8).
7) Lower the lift and place the combined equipment in an
operating position. Check that all the sowing parts oscillate
freely, including the drive wheels and the seed-covering
harrow. Check that the equipment is in the correct position,
perpendicular to the ground, and if necessary move the third-
point of the equipment (B Fig. 13).
During the work, regularly check that the equipment is
perpendicular.
3.2.4 FITTING OF DRIVE BELTS
This operation should be carried out with the tractor engine
switched off, the parking brake on and the equipment resting
on the ground.
1) The belts should be inserted between the pulley fitted on the
rear power take-off of the harrow and the one with the centrifugal
clutch of the blower (Fig. 14).
2) Adjust the tightness of the belts using the lever with roller (A
Fig. 15) and lock with the knob (B Fig. 15).
A correctly tightened belt should not yield to hand pressure.
