Inspect the guide bar (26) before sharpening the

saw chain. A worn or damaged guide bar is unsafe.

A worn or damaged guide bar will damage the saw

chain. It will also make cutting harder.

WARNING. Remove the battery packs

before servicing. Severe injury or death

could occur from electric shock or body contact

with moving saw chain.

WARNING. Wear heavy-duty gloves when

performing any maintenance or service to

this device.

1) Place the device on a solid, level surface.
2) Loosen the chain cover lock nut (30) by turning

it anti-clockwise with the wrench (10mm) (41)

provided; take off the chain cover (27) to expose the

guide bar (26). (Fig. P1)
3) Remove the old guide bar and saw chain. (Fig. P2)
4) Slide the new saw chain in the slot around the

guide bar. Ensure the chain is in the correct running

direction by comparing it to the saw chain icon on

the housing.
5) Fit the saw chain onto the sprocket (36). Ensure

the bar tensioning plate is facing outward. (Fig. P3)
6) Ensure all parts are seated properly. Make sure the

drive links are fully seated in the sprocket (36), avoid

placing the saw chain in the wrong direction. If kink

occurs, pick up on the saw chain at the guide bar

just ahead of the kink and then pull the kink out.
7) Using the 4mm hex key (44) provided to tighten

the saw chain by turning the 4mm hex key (44)

clockwise, or loosen the chain by turning it anti-

clockwise. The correct chain tension is reached when

the chain can be raised approx. 3-5 mm from the

guide bar in the center. This should be done by using one hand to raise the

saw chain against the weight of the machine. Do not tension the saw chain
