A communications session between the transmitter and a
local
PC via USB can now be established. See 5 for
instructions regarding initiation of a communications
session between the transmitter and the ViscoSite software
on the
local
PC.
Ethernet Port LAN Connection to a Remote PC
The Ethernet port is used to establish a LAN-based connection between
the ViscoSite transmitter and a
remote
computer.
The Ethernet (LAN) port on the transmitter must be connected to a
Local Area Network (LAN) using CAT5e (minimum requirement)
network cable.
The network configuration, including the required
static
IP address for
the transmitter, must be input via the transmitter keypad (see Section
4.6.3 for full requirements.) This configuration provides a unique
network address for the ViscoSite transmitter. Connection between a
remote
PC and the ViscoSite transmitter (see 5) via Modbus RTU over
Ethernet (LAN) can now be established.
A communications session
cannot
be established by connecting an
Ethernet cable from the Ethernet (LAN) port on the transmitter directly
to the Ethernet (LAN) port of a local computer. The transmitter requires
a Static IP on the LAN to function properly.
To connect to the ViscoSite transmitter via Ethernet (LAN) from a
remote
computer, a virtual COM port must be created on the remote
PC
prior
to launching the ViscoSite software. See Section 3.11.2 for
instructions on how to create / install a virtual COM port.
3.11.3.1 Communications with the ViscoSite
Transmitter via Ethernet (LAN) using a
Virtual COM Port (Remote PC)
•
See Section 3.11.2 for instructions on how to
accomplish the creation / installation of a virtual COM
port on the
remote
PC.
•
Install the ViscoSite software (provided) onto the
remote
PC. Follow all directions to complete the
installation.
•
Ensure the
transmitter’s
IP address, subnet, and
gateway address for your environment have been
correctly assigned. These values must be entered and
