If you are not going to use the system for a long period (i.e. >3 weeks), note that the system may
need to be charged two or three times prior to the next use. If you are using the system regularly,
set up the chargers in a convenient place, and ensure the system is left on charge when not in use.
BATTERY CHARGING AND TESTING
A recent analysis of support issues showed that over 90% of issues with SMARTSPEED systems are
due to battery problems. Maintaining battery levels and performing periodic testing of your units is
the best way to ensure that your system remains reliable and ready to use.
The best way to ensure your system will not have battery problems is to charge it regularly. The
batteries used in SMARTSPEED do NOT develop “battery memory” so you do not need to be worry
about charging the system too often.
BATTERY CHARGING
Please note – your system should only be charged using the chargers provided with your system.
Using different chargers may cause damage to your system, and will void the standard warranty.
CHARGING THE FUSION PDA (P-SERIES 1-PIECE UNIT)
The P-Series Fusion PDA comes with 2 chargers - Micro USB and 5V DC (round plug). Either charger
can be used however the charging is more efficient when using the DC charger provided.
For further instructions please refer to the Quick start guide provided in your PDA carry case.
CHARGING THE GRABBA SLEEVE AND PDA (2-PIECE S AND T SERIES PDA VERSIONS)
Both the PDA and Grabba sleeve have internal batteries. BOTH of these batteries must be charged.
Please note – you should always exit the SMARTSPEED software at the end of each session prior to
charging, and it is also recommended that both WiFi and Bluetooth are turned off to maximize
charging speed.
The PDA/sleeve unit can be charged in either of two ways –
1.
Charged separately (Recommended)
– the PDA can be charged separately by removing it
from the Grabba sleeve and connecting it to the HP charger provided with the system.
Ensure both the sleeve and PDA are displaying the orange LED lights.
2.
Connected together
– connect the PDA and sleeve together, and insert the 5V charger into
the charge input on the left side of the Grabba sleeve. If connected properly, both the PDA
and sleeve should show orange LED indicator lights (see picture to right).
IF BATTERIES ARE BELOW 27% CHARGING SEPARATELY IS RECOMMENDED, as it takes too long to
charge the units together.
