5.25 Basic presser foot lifter setting (Free Hand System (FHS))
Standard:
•
The end of the knee-activated lifter lever should
be approx. 160mm / 6inch from the needle centre
position
(horizontally).
Correction:
•
Fit lifter lever into bore (

).
•
Loosen
screw
(

).
•
Position knee-lifter lever in the
appropriate place.
•
Retighten screw (

).
Checking correct position:
•
Place presser foot lifter lever up.
•
Set upper thread tension to 10.
•
Model 640 manually rotate the top tension stepping motor cam counter clock wise to the highest setting.
•
When the lifter is actuated, the presser foot lifter lever must drop.
Correcting the position:
•
Loosen
screw
(

) and turn adjustment eccenter (

) until the lifter lever releases (drops).
•
Retighten screw (

).
•
Check tension release mechanism. Correct if necessary (release lever must be free).
