Changing the IPv4 Address
In most home networks it is not necessary to change the IPv4
settings.
Yet there are situations in which it makes sense to adjust the
IPv4 settings of the FRITZ!Box. For instance, in the following
case:
•
You have an existing local IPv4 network, one subnet with
several computers.
•
Fixed IPv4 addresses are registered in the network set-
tings of the computer, and you do not want to or are not
permitted to change these addresses.
•
You want to connect the FRITZ!Box to the local IPv4 net-
work in order to make the FRITZ!Box features available to
all of the computers in the IPv4 network.
Guest Network
If the guest access is configured in the FRITZ!Box, the guest
network has its own IP network assigned automatically by the
FRITZ!Box. The IP addresses of the guest network are not
available for other purposes.
The IP address of the guest network can be found in the user
interface of the guest network, under “Home Network / Home
Network Overview / Network Settings / IPv4 Addresses”.
Subnetworks
The FRITZ!Box also supports subnets that are not pure class
A, B, or C networks. This means you can enter any subnet
mask you like. The smallest subnet mask allowed is
255.255.255.252.
IPv4 Address in Case of Emergency
The FRITZ!Box has a fixed IPv4 address that cannot be
changed. The FRITZ!Box always can be reached at this IPv4
address.
