5 PRESETS

Each block you place in a preset contributes to the total CPU load. You can check the current load at any time by 

viewing the mini CPU meter at the top of the grid.
The maximum allowable load is 90%. There are safeguards to prevent you from pushing the Axe-Fx III too far. 

First, you are stopped from inserting any block which might cause an overload by the message “INSUFFICIENT 

CPU”. The Axe-Fx III assumes that a block will be used to its limits when making this determination. If you 

manage to get the load above 90%, audio performance may be compromised.
If you are prevented from inserting an effect because of CPU limits, you can make changes to reduce the current 

CPU load and try again. You might remove an effect that is less important. Adjusting certain parameters can also 

help. But beware of trying to set parameters back to higher values after inserting the desired block. At extremely 

high CPU usage levels, the Axe-Fx III may become unstable. 
Here are a few of the common block parameters whose settings have a measurable effect on CPU usage:

Amp: Output Comp: Set to "0" for the least CPU usage.

Cab: Mute: The more Cab blocks you use per block, the higher the CPU usage.

 

ƒ

Reverb: Quality and Echo Density. Lower = less CPU. The “Spring” type uses the least CPU.

 

ƒ

Compressor: Set Type to one of the "PEDAL" options to use less CPU.

 

ƒ

Phaser: Stages. Lower = less CPU.

 

ƒ

Filter: Order and Q. Lower = less CPU. 

 

ƒ

Multitap Delay: Type. Different types have different CPU requirements.

 

ƒ

Modifiers also affect CPU usage.

CPU & USB

With its dedicated processor for USB, CPU usage is not increased when USB is connected.
