WARNINGS
Check and replace wiper blades
regularly to ensure the camera
sensor has a clear view through the
windscreen. Replacement wiper blades
must be the correct length.
Note:
Keep the windscreen free from
obstructions such as bird droppings, insects
and snow or ice.
Note:
Reflective road signs may be
detected as oncoming traffic and the
headlamps will be switched to low beam.
Note:
Always fit Ford Original Parts when
replacing headlamp bulbs. Other bulbs may
reduce system performance.
The system will automatically switch on
high beams if it is dark enough and no other
traffic is present. If it detects an
approaching vehicle’s headlamps or tail
lamps, or street lighting ahead the system
will switch off high beam before it can
distract other road users. Low beam will
remain on.
A camera sensor is centrally mounted
behind the windshield of your vehicle. This
monitors conditions continuously to decide
when to switch the high beams on and off.
Once the system is active the high beam
will switch on if:
•
It is dark enough to require the use of
high beams and
•
there is no traffic or street lighting
ahead and
•
vehicle speed is greater than 25 mph
(40 km/h).
The high beam will switch off if:
•
The ambient light is high enough that
high beam is not required.
•
An approaching vehicle's headlamps
or tail lamps are detected.
•
Street lighting is detected.
•
Vehicle speed falls below 19 mph
(30 km/h).
•
The camera sensor is too hot or
becomes blocked.
Activating the System
Switch the system on using the information
display. See
Information Displays
(page
86). Turn the switch to the autolamps
position. See
Autolamps
(page 64).
The indicator will illuminate to confirm
when the system is ready to assist.
Manually Overriding the System
Push or pull the lever to switch between
high and low beam.
Note:
This is a temporary override and the
system will return to automatic operation
after a short period.
