4.3.1
Connecting and Configuring an Ethernet Edge-device with
the Layer 2 Addressing Mode
The FM2200 unit has two Ethernet ports that can be used to connect all
kinds of Ethernet edge devices (e.g. IP Cameras, Video-Server, Wi-Fi Ac-
cess Points, etc.). Any Ethernet device can be configured either manually
or automatically through a DHCP server:
1.
Manual IP setting
: the address must be of the class used on the LAN.
The default gateway field should be left blank or set to the IP address
of the default gateway of the LAN.
2.
Automatic IP setting:
when a DHCP server is running on the LAN, it
can be used to automatically configure the network devices which are
connected to the
Mesh Point
units.
Option 1 is clearly recommended in any video-surveillance system where
the cameras need to have a fixed custom IP address to be accessed by
any video-recording software.
