10.1.6 Maintenance of the compressed air brake system
Draining water from the air reservoir:
Every day, the water must be drained from the compressed air reservoir by pulling on the ring on the underside.
Line air filter
The two filter housings (
1
) contain sieve inserts (
3
). If the filter inserts in the line air filters are clogged, air flows around
them without being filtered. As a result, there is no filter protection for downstream attachments, meaning that the filter
inserts must be cleaned at regular intervals.
1.
Before opening the filter housing, depressurise the pipes.
2.
To clean the sieve filter (
3
), remove the locking tab (
8
).
Be aware of the back-pressure from the cap (
7
).
3.
If necessary, rinse the sieve filter with benzine and blow it out.
Always replace damaged sieve inserts and O-rings.

Brake cylinder
Check the brake cylinder. Only up to 2/3 of the brake cylinder stroke should be used. If this is exceeded, the brake system
must be re-adjusted or repaired by a specialist brake workshop.
Mechanical ALB control
ALB = automatic load-dependent brake force regulation.
The setting length is specified on the ALB plate.
This setting must not be changed.
10.1.7 Adjusting the overrun brake (single-axle)
The brake linings must first adjust to the brake drum, which will result in differing temperatures. This can create
some play in the brakes. The overrun brake must then be adjusted.
Check the brake lining regularly (every 200 operating hours) and adjust if necessary.

Overrun brake mechanism
-
Position the tank trailer on solid, level ground.
-
Use the supplied wheel chocks to secure the tank trailer against rolling away.
-
Raise the axle off the ground.
-
Pull out the drawbar eye (
1
) of the overrun brake completely and release the handbrake lever (
B
).
-
Fully release the tensioner (
A
).
-
Turn the adjusting screw (
C
) clockwise until the wheel does not turn in the direction of travel.
-
Turn the adjusting screw (
C
) back until no more braking effect can be felt when the wheel is turned forward.
-
Perform these steps for all braked wheels.
-
Tighten the turnbuckle (
A
) until no more play exists in transfer direction and the wheel can turn freely.
-
Later adjustment of the wheel brake must only be performed via the adjusting screw (
C
).
The wheel brake must only be adjusted via the adjusting screw.
The brake linings must first adjust to the brake drum, which will result in differing temperatures. This can
create some play in the brakes. The overrun brake must then be adjusted.
Check the brake lining regularly
(every 200 operating hours) and adjust if necessary.
The default setting is preset in the factory. The default setting must only be restored when replacing
drawbars or parts of the support bearing group.
