CLEARANCES, FLOOR PROTECTOR AND MANTEL
REQUIREMENTS FOR A NON-MASONRY BUILT-IN CANOPY
WITH HEAT SENSITIVE FLOOR
The Serenity requires an ash floor protector to AS/NZS 2918:2001 – i.e. a floor
protector consisting of a continuous durable non-combustible upper surface.
The Serenity has been designed for non-masonry built-in canopy installation.
The minimum distance from the base of the fire (noted as X on the diagram) to
the ash floor protector is 150mm. The distance can be any amount greater than
150mm provided the clearance from the base of the fire (X) to the ceiling is no
less than 1700mm.
The ash floor protector must be of a minimum depth of 300mm from the fire
breast the width must be no less than 840mm.
