CHANGING THE BATTERY
If required, replace the battery with an orig-
inal spare part with the same specifications.
If a battery with different specifications is
fitted, the service intervals given in the
“Scheduled Servicing Plan” will no longer
be valid.
Follow the battery manufacturer’s in-
structions for maintenance.
IMPORTANT Check the battery charge
once a year, preferably before the begin-
ning of the winter, to prevent freezing of
the electrolyte. This check should be car-
ried out more frequently if the car is
mainly used for short journeys, or if it is
fitted with accessories that permanently
consume electricity even with the ignition
key removed, especially in the case of af-
ter-market accessories.
Incorrect assembly of electric
and electronic devices may
cause severe damage to your
car. Go to a Fiat Dealership if
you want to install accessories (alarms,
mobile phone, etc.): they will suggest
the most suitable devices and advise
you whether a higher capacity battery
needs to be installed.
Batteries contain substances
that may do great harm to the
environment. To replace your
battery, we recommend con-
tacting your Fiat Dealership to dispose
of your old battery in full respect of the
environment and in compliance with all
applicable laws and regulations.
If the vehicle will be unused
for an extended period of
time in extremely cold weather con-
ditions, remove the battery and store
it in a heated area to prevent it from
freezing.
WARNING
Battery liquid is poisonous
and corrosive. Avoid contact
with the skin and eyes. Keep naked
flames or possible sources of sparks
away from the battery: risk of explo-
sion or fire.

Using the battery when the
fluid is too low can damage
it irreparably and generate a risk of
explosion.

Always wear appropriate
goggles when working on or
near the battery.
