Shielding within the control cabinet

In many cases, there are a number of sources of interference in the control cabinet, such as servo
drive modules, transformers, contactors and relays. It is therefore necessary to continue the cable
shield from the plug housing (control cabinet) to the controller (continuous connection from the hand-
held terminal to the controller). The CAMI-C interface housing must be used for earthing.
If an interface housing cannot be used for various reasons, then with less critical interface types such
as RS-232-C the shield can be continuously connected by contact of the plug housing with the control
cabinet and inside the control cabinet by contact of the shield with the control cabinet (by shield
clamps). The shorter the distance between the contacts of the plug housing on the control cabinet and
the cable clamp in the control cabinet, the better the screening attenuation.

The interference immunity of the device with the connection type shown above is also significantly
influenced by the sufficient separation of the control signals from the signals of the data line. The bet-
ter the separation of the two signal types and the shorter the shield connection, the higher the inter-
ference immunity of the entire system will be.

The following table provides an overview of the basic chemical resistance of the materials used in the
handheld terminal CDSA-D3-RV. The list is not exhaustive.
Some substances have high creep properties, which means that substances can penetrate the device
and components. This type of resistance is not evaluated here.
