Function and application
A rotating slide spindle converts the rotary movement of a motor into a linear
movement. The inner slide then moves backwards and forwards. The slide
6
is
driven by an axially rigid connection through a slot in the profile. A cover strip
3
covers the slot in the profile.
The slide is bearing mounted. The reference position of the slide can be detected
using proximity switched in the grooves
aC
.
The EGC−...−BS−KF−... spindle axis is inten
ded to be used to precisely position useful
loads. It is approved for slide operating
mode.
Note
The EGC−...−BS−KF−... spindle axis is not fitted with a brake: When input torque is
not applied, the slide can be moved freely.
Generally automatic locking of the entire system can be achieved using motors
with integrated spring−loaded holding brake or with high self−braking torque
(e.g.for vertical operation).
S
Please select the appropriate motors from our catalogue
www.festo.com/catalogue
You will then be operating two devices which are especially matched to each
other.
When using other motors:
S
Adhere to the maximum permitted values for forces, torque and speeds in
accordance with the
è
chapters12Technical data" and 13Characteristic
curves."

Transportation and storage
S
Take into account the weight of the product. Depending on the version,
the EGC can weigh up to 180 kg.
S
Provide the following storage conditions:
Storage times should be kept to a minimum
Cool, dry, shaded, corrosion resistant storage locations.
