IN AN EMERGENCY
The Motronic ECU’s self-learning cycle
works correctly when the intake air
temperature is in the range 5 - 100 °C.
After removing the battery from the
vehicle or disconnecting it from the
system through the battery master
switch, when you reconnect it you
must make sure, before running the
self-learning cycle, that the external air
temperature is in the indicated range.
BATTERY MASTER SWITCH
The earth wire of the battery can
be disconnected by means of the
master switch
A , located in the engine
compartment.
Disconnection of the battery is advised
if the vehicle is not used for long periods
of time.
Consult the chapter “If the vehicle is
stored for long periods” in the section
“Checks and maintenance”.
Each time the battery is reconnected,
before starting the engine, wait at least
10 seconds with the ignition key in
position
II to allow the electronic system
that controls the motor-driven valves to
run a self-learning cycle.
When the battery is disconnected,
the clock stops. When the battery is
reconnected, the exact time must be reset
using the scroll buttons of the multi-
function display (see on page 64).
