G 500

8.8.1 Function

The edge scraping unit allows to take off a thin layer of

edge, rectifying the profile made by the flush trim cutters.

When the panel feeds through and reaches the scraping

unit it is copied by the feelers (copiers).

The edge scraping unit glides along the workpiece and

the edge material. The fixed knive lifts excess from the

edge, thus leaving a completely smooth edge surface.

The upper edge scraping unit regulates itself automati-

cally when the tool thickness is changed, because it is

attached to a pressure bar. According to the edge scra-

ping knife and the adjustment of the feeler it is possible

to create different edge scraping profiles (2 or 3mm

radius). At the end of the cycle, the chip breaker spring

causes chips to be separated; this procedure is necessa-

ry in order to prevent chips from becoming entangled in

the buffing unit.

To exclude the lower and upper edge scrapers, pull ball

handle 4, thus moving the unit away from the workpiece.
