It has allowed the boater to enjoy making purified water while at the slip and take
advantage of the relatively spot free water produced under these circumstances.
The downside has always been the premature failure of the seawater membranes
due to exposure to chlorine, hot water, hard water, and various other contaminates
that can foul a membrane. In addition, because the seawater membranes are not
designed to be run under these conditions, they require far more energy and pressure
than would membranes specifically designed for municipal water purification.
With the Dockside Treatment System Plus Solo, you can now purify
dock water without the risk of fouling your seawater membranes.
The DTS
+SOLO
is a standalone system, complete with dual inlet carbon and
particulate filtering, pump, panel, HMI touchscreen, R1 ROC control system,
and pressure vessel set (which house the reverse osmosis membranes).
The dual filters remove harmful chlorine and particulates from the dockwater
stream before they reach pump and membranes. The dual filter assembly has
a service valve, allowing the users to remove the inlet stream pressure after
shutdown when replacing the carbon or particulate filter elements.
The membranes used in the DTS
+SOLO
are specially designed for purifying
freshwater, requiring lower pressure and energy than membranes designed for
purifying saltwater. The pump is matched to the lower pressure requirements
and is replaceable as a unit, eliminating the need to rebuild valves and seals.
The system is controlled by HMI touchscreen, an adjustable reject flow valve, and
an adjustable recycle flow valve. Pressure gauges and flowmeters are provided
on the system panel. These, along with information provided on the HMI
touchscreen, informs the operator of the state of the machine at a glance.
The DTS
+SOLO
advances the dockside treatment system lineage with
the introduction of a recycle valve technology. The recycle valve
technology increases the water recovery rate approximately 50%.
The DTS
+SOLO
is also versatile in its mounting requirements. The optional stand
allows the user to deck-mount the system’s panel and filters. Without the stand,
the user may wall-mount the system's panel and filters. If space is limited, the
user can mount the panel and filters separately (modular mount). The pressure
vessel set can be mounted horizontally or vertically, and includes mounting
rails. An installation kit is included to supply hose and tubing and fittings.
The practice of running dock water through a standard
seawater watermakers has been done for some time now.
