8.7.2 Insulation test
8.7.2.1 Preliminary remarks and safety notes
DANGER!
Danger to life due to electrical voltage!
In case of faults or failed tests:
– Do not carry out the following tests.
– Repair the machine and rectify the fault.
– Do not carry out further tests until the machine
has been properly repaired.
For safe operation, sufficient insulation must be ensured between
the live parts and the metal parts which can be touched.
For this purpose, the insulation between the conductors of the
main circuits (active conductors) and the touchable metal parts
must be tested.
Carry out the test completely and in the order given:
n Visual inspection
n Insulation test
n Function test
The results of the individual tests should be docu-
mented.
8.7.2.2 Insulation test

If faults were discovered during the visual inspec-
tion:
– Do not carry out the insulation test.
– Repair the machine and rectify the fault.
– Do not carry out further tests until the machine
has been properly repaired.
NOTICE!
If the actual value during one of the tests is less
than the specified nominal value, this indicates a
defective insulation.
– The machine must not be operated with defec-
tive insulation!
– Have the machine repaired immediately by a
qualified electrician.
