Viewing and Configuring Layer 2 Virtual LANs
A virtual LAN (VLAN) is similar to a Local Area Network (LAN), however devices do not need to be
connected to the same segment physically. Devices operate as if connected to the same LAN, but could
be connected at different physical connections across the LAN segment. The VLAN can be connected at
various physical points but react as if it were connected directly. One of the biggest advantages of a
VLAN, is when a computer is physically moved to another location, it can stay on the same VLAN
without reconfiguration. The controller can support multiple VLANs. Use the Layer 2 Virtual LANs
screen to view and configure VLANs by Port and Ports by VLAN information. Refer to the following
VLAN configuration activities:
