PLACE HEAVY OBJECTS ON THE DOOR.

11.5 Helm
Helm
The steering, engine controls, engine instruments
and switches for exterior equipment and navigation
lights are located on the helm station. An area
for flush mounted electronics is located forward
of the steering and engine controls. The helm
is equipped with storage compartments and grab
rails. There are also MP3 and 12 volt accessory
plugs, additional storage and cup holders in the
compartment on the starboard side.
The helm is hinged at the bottom and opens
to provide access to service control and steer-
ing system components or to install and service
electronics. A heavy duty cable holds the helm
in the open position and prevents it from opening
too far. Two stainless steel bolts at the top of the
helm secure it in the closed position.
To open the helm station, make sure the engines
are not running and hold the helm in the closed
position. Loosen and remove the bolts that secure
the helm. With the bolts removed, carefully lower
the helm to the full open position.
Helm
Two Bolts Securing the Helm
Notice:
The helm is heavy and could open unexpect
-
edly when the last bolt is loosened. This
could break the retainer strap and/or dam-
age the helm. Make sure you hold the helm
closed while the bolts are removed.
Close the helm by pushing it to the closed posi-
tion. While holding the helm closed, install and
tighten the bolts. The bolts should be tightened
evenly. Take care not to over tighten the bolts.
Over tightened bolts can damage the fiberglass
or twist and break. You should also make sure
that helm is properly closed and secured with both
bolts before operating the boat.
