CALIBRATING THE METERING UNIT
Calibration is done statically without the fans running. Although the procedure might differ
slightly from one control system to the next, the overall process of calibration basically remains
the same.
NOTE:
The metering unit should be recalibrated each time the product in the bin is altered. It
is also recommended that the calibration is checked daily.
The procedure below is for calibrating the dual outlet mixer metering unit. The same procedure
applies to the single chute metering units, except for the fact that no adjustment is required on
the adjustment knob.
1.
Select a container/bucket to use for calibration. Before starting with the calibration
process this container must be hung on the scale (supplied in the toolbox of the Air Cart)
and the scale must be zeroed.
2.
Ensure the hydraulics of the Air Cart is connected to the tractor and the tractor’s hydraulic
system is in operation.
3. On the selector valve at the front of the Air Cart, select the drive setting.
4. Adjust the knob on the side of the metering unit to ensure all product is fed into the lower
air lines.
NB:
This adjustment is very important to ensure accurate calibration.
5. Remove the lid at the bottom of the metering unit.
6. Fit the funnel bag beneath the metering unit. The 4 eyelids on the bag fit over the 4
protrusions on the bottom of the metering unit.
