The hydraulic flow rate through the motor determines the motor speed, which is controlled by
the setting of the PWM valve. The PWM valve is controlled by a signal from the electronic
control system. Having passed through the motor, the hydraulic oil joins into the main return
line which flows back to the tractor.
ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM
The main function of the electronic control system is to control the rate of product application
during seeding. The system consists of an ECU (Electronic Control Unit) situated on the Air
Cart and an optional ISOBUS ready display for the tractor cab.
The ECU receives signals from the following sensors on the Air Cart:
1. Bin level empty sensors.
2. Metering unit encoder speed.
3. Fan speed.
And combine them with the following operator inputs:
1. Desired product application rate.
2. Seeding implement geometry.
3. Product being planted.
The ECU uses the above input combination to send output signals to the PWM valve to achieve
the correct metering shaft speeds.
The electronic control system also warns the operator if any of the following situations arise:
1. Bin level empty.
2. Metershaft stationary.
3. Fan stationary.
BIN WEIGHING SYSTEM
The Air Cart can be equipped with a Digistar system for determining the weight of each bin.
The bin weighing system is helpful to the operator as it allows him/her to view the exact
weight of each bin after filling.
