RIP Commands
5-128 Configuring the Internet Protocol
Default
Allows
RIP
to
respond
to
a
triggered
update.
Example
This
example
prevents
RIP
from
responding
to
a
request
for
triggered
updates
on
F
1
:
XSR(config)#interface fastethernet 1
XSR(config-if<F1>)#ip rip disable-triggered-updates
ip rip offset
This
command
adds
an
offset
onto
incoming/outgoing
metrics
to
routes
learned
via
RIP.
Syntax
ip rip offset
value
Syntax of the “no” Form

of
this
command
removes

no ip rip offset
Mode
Interface

XSR(config-if<
xx
>)#
Default
No
offset
applied
Example
The
following
example
sets
an
offset
of
1
for
Serial
port
1/0
:
XSR(config)#interface serial 1/0
XSR(config-if<S1/0>)#ip rip offset 1
Adding
an

on
an
interface
makes
it
a
backup
port.
Suppose
R1
is
only
2
hops
away
from
Rx
through
both
interfaces.
By
adding
1
to
2
on
Serial
1/0,
the
distance
between
R1
And
Rx
through
Serial
1/0
becomes
3,
making
Serial
1/0
a
backup.

applied
to
metrics
for

taken.
