3.13 Installation steps for the flowtap welding socket
version with a spindle

Note!
• Do the pipe dimensions (inner diameter, wall thickness, thickness of insulation) match the data
of the order and the specifications of the device?
• Do the medium properties and process data match the specifications on the supplied calculation
sheet?
1. Completely depressurize and drain the pipe prior to installing the Deltatop.
2. Drill a hole with the diameter D1 into the pipe.
3. Tack the welding socket onto the pipe by using the appropriate weld gap typically 1/16"
(1.5 mm)).
4. Protect the threads on the welding socket and finish welding the welding socket to the pipe as
per the applicable piping codes.
5. Using appropriate pipe thread sealant:
a. Screw the close nipple into the welding socket.
b. Screw the ball valve into the close nipple.

c. Thread the access nipple into the packing gland.
6. Retract the sensor such that the tip of the sensor is flush with the end of the access nipple.
7. Tighten the three packing bolts on the packing gland.
8. Apply appropriate thread sealant to the access nipple and thread the access nipple into the
access valve.
9. Orient the sensor such that the arrow labeled "flow" on the device head is in the direction of
the flow in the pipe to within 3°.

2) Be sure that the valve handle does not hit the pipe when opening and closing the valve.
