6.1 Introduction to Closures for Blown Fibre Installations
The appropriate closures for the installation will have been selected at the Design stage.
Some closures are re-openable, either with screws or clips. Not all closures ‘below ground level’ are designed to be water-tight or gas-tight, since this
costs more. If the contents of the closure are resistant to water or gas contact, then a high-rated closure is not necessary.
The sealing performance is usually rated on the EN 60529 International Protection Scale (I.P.Rating)
When installing a water-tight closure, be sure to follow the correct installation procedure, or water-tightness may not be achieved.
