Do the following before you carry out maintenance: Unplug the washing machine
(or turn off the mains supply) and turn off the water tap.
•
Never use any solvents inside the washing machine (they may damage the
machine, produce toxic gases or cause an explosion).
•
Do not spray the washing machine directly with water.
•
Never use cleaning products that contain chloroxylenol to clean the washing
machine.
Cleaning and maintaining the exterior of the machine.
Correct maintenance can extend the working life of the washing machine. If required,
the exterior of the washing machine can be cleaned with a dilute neutral detergent
(that does not contain abrasives). Wipe up any water spills immediately. The exterior
of the machine may be damaged by sharp objects.
Cleaning the drum
Any rust that forms inside the drum due to contact with metal objects that have been
left in laundry should be removed immediately with chlorine-free detergent. Do not
use steel wool.
Protecting from frost
If the washing machine is installed in a room where the temperature could drop
below zero you should drain all the water from the drain hose and supply hose after
use.
Removing remaining water from the supply hose:
1. Make sure all the water has been pumped out of the appliance.
2.
Turn off the water tap.
3. Unscrew the supply hose from the water tap, disconnect the drain hose and
place both hose ends in a container so that any water in the hoses can drain out.
4. Also drain out any water remaining in the drainage pump compartment.
Collect the water in a shallow container. This process is illustrated in the dia-
grams below.
