Grounding of the DC output
Grounding one of the DC output poles is allowed. Doing so can result in a potential shift of the grounded pole
against PE.
Because of insulation, there is a max. allowed potential shift of the DC output poles, which also depends on the

Connecting the “Share” bus
The “Share” bus on the rear side is intended to balance the current of the units in the cabinet and must not be
removed, unless a unit is going to be removed for repair or maintenance purposes. The cover which is mounted
on top of the connectors “Sense” and “Share” with some models must always be thoroughly installed.
In case of adding a unit or two, where possible, in order to extend the total power, the Share bus must extended.
2.3.8
Connection of remote sense
Though every unit in the cabinet has a “Sense” connector, remote sensing when being used is only wired to the
master unit. This unit is responsible for the voltage regulation and remote sensing compensation in constant volt
-
age operation. It forwards the regulation signal to the slave units via the Share bus.
•
Both pins „NC“ of the Sense connector must not be wired!
•
With models of 750 V or higher voltage rating, the included cover for the terminals Sense and
Share has to be mounted all the time and the cables used for sensing must have a suitable
electric strength!
•
Remote sensing is only effective during constant voltage operation (CV) and for other regulation
modes the sense input should be disconnected, if possible, because connecting it generally
increases the oscillation tendency.
•
The cross section of the sense cables is noncritical. Recommendation for cables up to 5 m:
use at least 0.5 mm²
•
Sense cables should be twisted and laid close to the DC cables to damp oscillation. If neces
-
sary, an additional capacitor should be installed at the load/consumer to eliminate oscillation
•
The + sense cables must be connected to + on the load and - sense to - at the load, otherwise
the sense input of the power supply can be damaged. For an example see Figure 8 below.
