Installation & commissioning
2.1
Transport and storage
2.1.1
Transport
•
The handles on the front side of the units are
not
for carrying, but only for insertion into or
removal from the cabinet!
•
Because of the weight of the units, transport by hand should be avoided where possible. If
unavoidable then only the housing should be held and not on the exterior parts (handles, DC
output terminal, rotary knobs).
•
Do not move the cabinet when switched on or connected!
•
The cabinet must only be operated on horizontal surfaces which are capable of carrying the
total weight of the cabinet plus at least a few persons who are operating it
•
In case the cabinet is going to be moved to a different location, make sure for the entire way
that the carrying capacity of the ground and possible elevators is sufficient as well the cabinet
is secured against tipping and rolling off
•
Use suitable safety clothing, especially safety shoes, when carrying the equipment, as due to
the weight of an unit or the entire cabinet a drop can have serious consequences.
2.1.2
Storage
In case of long term storage of the equipment it is recommended to use the original packaging or similar. Storage
must be in dry rooms, if possible in sealed packaging, to avoid corrosion, especially internal through humidity.
2.2
Unpacking and visual check
After every transport, with or without packaging, or before commissioning, the equipment should be visually
inspected for damage and completeness using the delivery note and/or parts list (see section
). An obviously damaged device (e.g. loose parts inside, damage outside) must under no circumstances
be put in operation.
2.3
Installation
2.3.1
Safety procedures before installation and use
•
The cabinet has a considerable weight. Therefore the proposed location of the equipment,
as well as the entire way of transport must be able to support the weight without restriction.
•
After putting the cabinet into final position it is recommend to secure it against rolling off by
unscrewing the retractable pedestals
•
Before connecting to the mains ensure that the supply voltage is as shown on the product
label. Overvoltage on the AC supply can cause equipment damage.
2.3.2
Preparation
For the AC supply connection of the cabinet several things are required:
•
A 4-wire three-phase cable with suitable length and sufficient cross section. Such a cable is not included in the
delivery. See below for recommendations about cable types, cross sections and stripping lengths.
•
The external connection point has to fused according the to AC ratings of the cabinet. See below for recom
-
mendations about fuse types and fuse values.
For the DC side connection to the load suitable cables have to be made which are not included in the delivery.
Dimensioning of the DC wiring to the load/consumer has to reflect the following:
•
The cable cross section should always be specified for at least the maximum current of the
device.
•
Continuous operation at the approved limit generates heat which must be removed, as well as
voltage loss which depends on cable length and heating. To compensate for these the cable
cross section should be increased and the cable length reduced.
