POWDER REMOVAL OPERATION (ELECTROSTATIC COATING ONLY)
Step 1 -
Once a part has been satisfactorily coated, powder may be removed
from unwanted surfaces by vacuum, manual wiping or brushing, or
by the use of a stream of compressed air.
Step 2 -
Once parts are satisfactorily coated and cleaned, place them onto a
rack or hanger for oven cure.

FLUIDIZING HOPPER/POWDER FEED PUMP
9.5.1 Powder
Level
Fill the Fluidizing Hopper with the proper type of coating powder for the
application. Do not over-fill.
Most powders are hygroscopic. An attempt should be made to finish the days
run with a minimum amount of powder left in the Fluidizing Hopper. The
Hopper should be filled at the beginning of the day and be left almost empty at
the end of the day. All powder containers (bags, barrels, hoppers, etc.) should be
kept tightly closed.
Different coating results are obtained when using strictly virgin powder. If
powder from the Powder Collector is recycled and mixed with virgin powder in
the Fluidizing Hopper, mixtures with a higher percentage of virgin powder will
give a heavier coating for a given set of operating parameters. Since the various
mixtures will produce quite different coating/curing results, care must be taken
to chart specific set-up requirements. ETI recommends that a maximum of 20%
reclaimed material can be mixed with virgin material in the Fluidizing Hopper at
any time.
NOTE:
Carefully check the reclaimed powder to ensure it is dry and free from
oil or any solid contaminants. If there is any doubt as to whether or
not the reclaimed powder should be used; discard it.
